Financial Assistance
Eligibility
Financial assistance is based on family income, and may require the applicant to pay a portion of the program fee. Financial assistance may not be applied to trips, special events, birthday parties, or facility rentals. Applicant must be a Frederick County resident to apply.
Applying
To obtain a Financial Assistance Application, please call (301) 600-2936 or email the Parks and Recreation main office. You must submit a completed application and all proof of income to:
Applications must be received at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. Participants will be notified by phone, email, or mail regarding the status of their application. Applicants will be registered for the program only after their application has been approved.
Payment
If your application is approved and you owe a portion of the program fee, the payment will be due immediately.
Appeals
Applicants who are denied assistance have the right to appeal. All appeals must be submitted in writing to the Frederick County Park and Recreation Division Director no later than 10 business days from the date of denial. An appeal must state the reason the applicant feels they should receive assistance and any special situations and/or verification that would help with the re-determination.
Attendance / Refunds
Failure to attend a program or excessive withdrawals may affect future financial assistance. If you want to withdraw from a program, please call (301) 600-1039. All withdraws must be made no less than 10 business days prior to the start of the program. Refund Policy
Cap / Limit
There is a financial assistance limit of $125 per youth (ages 0-17 years old) and active adults (50+ years old) per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). The limit for organizations is $100.
Transportation
The Division does not provide transportation for programs.
