The spring on the property releases up to 3.25 million gallons of water per day which is thought to be one of the strongest springs in Maryland. It maintains a constant temperature of 54 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. The water is used in a trout fishing pond that spills into a wet meadow area. The Department of Natural Resources periodically stocks the pond with trout, although no schedule is available through Fountain Rock Park.
Fishing at Fountain Rock Park is free. Park visitors may fish here year-round; however, the following requirements must be followed:
A valid Maryland fishing license and trout stamp for visitors aged 16-65
A consolidated fishing license for visitors over age 65
