Scouts in the Kitchen
Scouts can enjoy a hands-on culinary experience at the Ballenger Creek Teaching Kitchen. Programs introduce safe, practical cooking skills in a real food service environment taught by a professionally trained culinary instructor.
While these sessions do not fulfill a full cooking merit badge, they support portions of badge requirements and build confidence in kitchen safety, meal planning and basic cooking techniques. This is a great option for groups without access to indoor kitchen space.
Cub Scout Programs
Frederick County Parks and Recreation offers a variety of Cub Scout programs that support rank requirements and skill-building activities. Classes are instructor-led and may include outdoor skills, nature exploration, arts and crafts, or hands-on science depending on the site. Some activities may require follow-up with the scout leader or additional observations to complete the badge or achievement requirements.
Girl Scout Programs
Girl Scout programs are designed to support Journey and badge components through activities that explore art, nature, science, cooking and history. Each program is tailored to Girl Scout standards with offerings suitable for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes/Teens, Seniors and Ambassadors.
