Programs Available for Adult Groups

Fountain Rock Park can accommodate a number of adult groups. Programs available for adult groups include:

Master Naturalist

The Master Naturalist program has been developed by the University of Maryland Extension office and is sponsored by our Frederick County Nature Council. This course will meet once a week for approximately 3 months in the fall and provides scientific training in natural ecology topics such as interpretation, humans in the landscape, botany, herpetology, geology, and many more topics. Tea Talks

Let’s talk over tea about what is going on in the natural world. Various speakers will present topics they have researched with our concerned citizens. All are welcome and master naturalists do get credit for advanced training hours.

Bird Watching/Walks

This may be a small (22 acres) park but there are lots of wonderful birds to see! We have many songbirds, raptors, and water birds that make this area their home and many others that always stop through on their migration.

Lime Kiln & Park History Tour

A chronological list of the parks history is online and we offer an in person tour here at the park as well.

Awesome Animals

This class goes over the differences between mammals & birds, amphibians & reptiles, insects & arachnids and has lots of animal facts for each category.

Reptiles and Amphibians

Would you like to meet our resident snakes, turtles, and frogs? Whether you are trying to overcome your fear or just learn more about our fascinating animals, this adult only class may be the right format for you.
