Leader-in-Training

The Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program equips teens with leadership skills they can use throughout their lives. Teens will learn important leadership skills, such as:

• Teamwork
• Responsibility
• Communication
• Problem solving
• Community Service
• And many more!

We teach these vital life skills in a safe environment through fun and challenging group leadership trainings as well as hands-on experience working with kids alongside trained counselors. LITs help maintain group control, create a safe environment, and assist in activities while putting their leadership skills into practice.

This well-renowned program is approved for student service learning hours as required for High School graduation. Teens have also used this type of leadership experience to put on applications to such organizations as the National Honor Society and various colleges.

Our Leader-in-Training program is a summer camp program for teens age 13-17. This program creates excellent opportunities to learn leadership strategies, build team skills, and develop a healthy work ethic. As an ‘LIT’, you are expected to take on responsibilities associated with counseling and instructing while being supervised and guided. The Leader-in-Training program is a week long program. For those campers who are successful, there is also an opportunity to return to the camp as a volunteer to gain additional camp experience and add to their high school community service hours.

Each candidate completes an application and takes part in a group interview. The candidates are chosen based on their performance during the interview and on their merit. It should be understood that the program is designed to present each Leader-in-Training with new experiences and this begins with the application process. We are looking for individuals that are ready to take on greater responsibilities than that of a regular Camper. We strongly encourage each candidate to try and complete the application and arrange for the interview with minimal help from his or her parents. This represents the first step in taking on the additional expectations of being an ‘LIT’. Applications are available below.

All selected individuals must attend a mandatory L.I.T. orientation on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 (details to follow).

Application deadline is March 3, 2017.
NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.

Ages: 13-17 years
